On the field and on the court declines are gonna lag behind.
The money gaps are only becoming evident recently.
And of course, there will be some hold out programs, such as FSU and Clemson football and UNC and Duke basketball. Those particular programs will be OK because those schools will make them a priority.
And also, UNC and Duke have a ton of other income sources that will keep their basketball competitive. UVA's got money too. Like someone else posted, money from the ACC is just gravy for those schools. These revenue gaps just aren't all that important to them.
But, for athletic departments at VT and NC State, it's going to really sting moving forward as we are competing for recruits and coaches against the Ole Miss and Michigan States of the world.
And we've already been losing quality assistant coaches in football and basketball recently to Texas A&M and Florida. Pretty soon, we will be losing such coaches to Ole Miss and Michigan State. It will be TOUGH for us to match offers.
And it woulda been nice to have been able to hold off Iowa State for Dresser, but Whit's having to spend that money on Fuente and Buzz. Don't blame him, but that's where we're at.
